Surrounded by olive trees and vineyards and only 6 km from the crystal-clear Mediterranean, La Casa Toscana is a beautiful, restored 18th century Tuscan farmhouse on ‘La Strada del Vino’ between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri. The region is known as Etruscan Coast, most famous for its Super Tuscan wines, culinary excellence, cycling routes, and sandy beaches.

The property has two levels: the bottom, where my family and I live and where I teach my cooking classes; the top, where we have two spacious apartments for rent. During your stay at La Casa Toscana we hope you will sense our Italian hospitality and the feeling of having found your home away from home!

Each apartment is 90 square meters (970 square feet) with two bedrooms, a spacious living room, and a fully equipped kitchen. Both apartments are furnished with our family’s antique pieces to give you the same personal feeling that we have in our own home.

The apartment overlooking the countryside to the Mediterranean sea is named APARTMENT TORRE and  the apartment facing the picturesque hill-top village of Castagneto is named APARTMENT CASTELLO.

You will have full access to our one hectare (1/4 acre) garden, with an olive orchard, fruit trees, fresh herbs and typical plants of  the lush Mediterranean vegetation.
The garden is surrounded by the beautiful view of the rolling hills around the perched medieval village of Castagneto Carducci. Gather at sunset to admire the spectacular changing of lights and colors as the sun disappears beyond the horizon.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of the garden with its plentiful seating areas, two dining spaces and several lounge areas equipped with hammocks, benches, and a variety of lounge chairs perfect for relaxing.

For fun, visit our recreational area where we have a bocce ball court and a foosball table equipped with outdoor lighting. Adults and children alike will enjoy this area and our large back lawn where all can play with our three friendly cats and loving dog.

Whether you are interested in food and wine, cycling, swimming, family activities, or just relaxing, La Casa Toscana is the perfect place for you!

Discover the nature and culture of the Etruscan coast: a region dotted with towers, medieval villages and castles; sandy beaches lined with a pine forest; some of Italy’s best wines, Sassicaia and Ornellaia, a legend in the story of wine making.

Historic cities such as Pisa, Volterra, Populonia and San Gimignano are just a short distance away, for the perfect day trip.

If you are a bicycle enthusiast, incredible cypress-lined cycling routes lie just outside our door. My French husband and I are lifelong cyclists and we will be happy to direct you to the best itineraries, including some spectacular gravel roads, known as the strade bianche. If time permits, perhaps we can even cycle together!

The beach, great for children as the water is shallow, is only 6 km or 10 minutes by car. Enjoy the several bars and excellent restaurants along the seaside.

On top of the hill, overlooking the Mediterranean, the old village of Castagneto Carducci is only 20-minute walk from the house. This quiet, charming village offers all the services (pharmacy, bank with ATMs, etc.) as well as a fascinating history to discover. Get lost in its old streets and winding alley ways; peak your head into the medieval castle and visit quaint Italian specialty shops. You’ll also find several beautiful restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious bruschetta antipasto with a glass of local wine all the while soaking in that breathtaking view.

Donoratico, 4 km from the property, is a modern town offering supermarkets, a variety of shops and the railway station with access to the main cities (Rome, Pisa, Florence).

The magical village of Bolgheri is only 10 km away, at the end of the famous Viale dei Cipressi (Cypress Avenue) celebrated by one of the major Italian poets, Giusué Carducci. The entrance is dominated by a red brick castle, still belonging to the old noble family living there since 1200. This enchanting village offers several small restaurants, taverns, wine shops and local specialties.
